Dr. Jayashri Rajbangshi affectionately known to all as Mala is not only an accomplished legal scholar and researcher but also my co-author for One Shot One Kill. Hailing from Mangaldai, Assam, she brings a rare blend of academic excellence, intellectual rigor, and human insight to everything she undertakes. A graduate of Delhi University with Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Political Science, she later earned her LLB and LLM from J.B. Law College, Gauhati University, securing First Class First in her LLB, and was subsequently awarded a PhD by the National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam. Her acclaimed book, From Confinement to Reform: The Evolution of Prisons in Assam, reflects her deep engagement with issues of justice, governance, and institutional reform. While working together on One Shot One Kill, I came to appreciate not only her scholarly depth but also her remarkable ability to weave complex ideas into compelling narratives. Whether as a researcher, author, or collaborator, Jayashri brings clarity, integrity, and a profound commitment to creating work that informs, inspires, and leaves a lasting impact.
Dr. Jakey Khan served as the editor of One Shot One Kill, bringing to the manuscript a rare combination of legal scholarship, strategic insight, and editorial excellence. Throughout the writing process, he worked closely with us to refine the narrative, strengthen character arcs, enhance operational realism, and ensure that the story remained both authentic and engaging. His deep interest in military affairs, geopolitics, law, and contemporary strategic issues helped bridge the gap between technical accuracy and compelling storytelling. What I particularly value about Jakey is his ability to look beyond words on a page and focus on the larger narrative experience—improving pacing, sharpening themes, and ensuring that every chapter contributes meaningfully to the story's emotional and intellectual impact. His contribution to One Shot One Kill was instrumental in shaping the novel into a work that explores not only action and suspense, but also the deeper themes of duty, leadership, sacrifice, and the human cost of conflict. As an editor, scholar, and trusted collaborator, he brings clarity, precision, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
Known affectionately as “Lioness Scissorhands,” Nandini Ray Baruah is the sharp editorial mind behind many polished manuscripts and compelling narratives. A seasoned professional in Human Resources, Training, and Administration, she combines corporate expertise with a deep passion for writing and storytelling. Based in Guwahati, Nandini is an accomplished author, blogger, editor, and mentor whose keen eye transforms rough drafts into impactful stories. Her debut novel, The Disquiet of Dow Hills and Other Hauntings (Ukiyoto Publishing), received an enthusiastic response from readers upon launch. Her latest work, Her Aadmee (हर आदमी – Always (not) A हरामी), is a bold and emotionally resonant exploration of modern relationships, love, desire, and digital-age intimacy. Through nuanced storytelling and authentic characters, she captures the complexities of connection in an era shaped by technology and fleeting human interactions. As an editor, collaborator, and creative guide, Nandini brings clarity, empathy, and an exceptional instinct for storytelling to every project she undertakes.
Lieutenant. General Kalita Sir is one of Assam's most distinguished military leaders and a source of immense inspiration to all of us associated with One Shot One Kill. We were deeply honoured when he agreed to write the Foreword for the book, lending it not only his stature and credibility but also his profound understanding of leadership, service, and the soldier's calling. Commissioned into the 9 Kumaon Regiment in 1984, he served the nation with exceptional distinction for four decades, culminating in his appointment as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Command—the first officer from Assam and the Northeast to hold this prestigious position. Yet, beyond his remarkable military achievements and numerous decorations, it is his warmth, benevolence, humility, and genuine concern for people that have left the deepest impression on us. Throughout our journey, General Kalita has been a mentor, guide, and constant source of encouragement, generously sharing his wisdom, experience, and fatherly advice. To the entire One Shot One Kill team, he is far more than a decorated soldier; he is a father figure whose values, leadership, and unwavering faith in us have shaped both the book and the people behind it. His life and legacy continue to inspire us to strive for excellence, serve with integrity, and remain grounded in humility.
My mentor, my guide, and the father figure I never knew I needed — Air Marshal G.S. Bedi has been the unwavering North Star of my creative and personal journey. His wisdom didn’t just refine my understanding of the Indian Air Force; it shaped the heartbeat of my books.
An aviation and defence expert of rare calibre, his clarity, depth, and brilliance continue to inspire me. From serving as the Director General of Inspection and Safety at the Indian Air Force to being Air Advisor at the High Commission of India in London, and later a Distinguished Fellow at CAPS and CLAWS — his life is a masterclass in duty, courage, and leadership.
For me, his mentorship has been more than intellectual guidance. It has been a fatherly hand on the shoulder, a grounding voice in moments of doubt, and a gentle but firm reminder to chase excellence with humility and soul. He has left an imprint not just on my work but on the person I am becoming. Every day, he inspires me to live by the motto he embodies so naturally:
“Touch the Sky with Glory.”

Music has a strange way of lingering long after the final note fades — just like stories. It carries memories, solitude, longing, and the hidden journeys we don’t always speak about. My writing has always tried to capture that spirit.
Bringing that emotion to life is the theme music composed by Arpan Barua, my schoolmate, my best friend, and a gifted musician based in Dallas, Texas. His global experiences seep into his sound, weaving nostalgia, wanderlust, and belonging into every layer.
His composition isn’t just background music — it’s a bridge. A journey of its own. It binds melody to memory, words to emotion, and past to present.
Beyond music, Arpan is a seasoned Business Consultant with significant expertise in Mergers & Acquisitions, Strategic Portfolio Consulting, and Data Center Advisory across Asia Pacific. With a Master’s in Operational Research and an Economics degree from St. Stephen’s College, he brings both analytical brilliance and artistic depth to everything he does.
A leader with heart, a professional with fire, and a friend who never lets you lose your way — that’s Suhale Nadeem Quddus. A schoolmate and one of my closest comrades, Suhale has been a powerful presence in my journey as an author.
He kept me grounded, motivated, and laughing through the entire process — from scribbled drafts to printed pages. His infectious humour, his energy, and his unwavering encouragement made the journey just as memorable as the stories themselves.
A remarkable corporate professional, Suhale has vast experience across Channel and Partner Sales, B2B/B2C operations, and project execution in PSU, government, and private sectors. His expertise touches everything from agriculture and livelihood development to telecommunications, banking, climate-sector initiatives, FMCG, and media.
A passionate angler, nature lover, and music enthusiast, Suhale brings warmth and camaraderie wherever he goes. He is a natural team builder — someone who leads with conviction but also with a smile.
A brother in arms, a creative powerhouse, and one of the most dependable people in my life — Bhargav Ranadeep, along with his phenomenal team at Geekworkx, has shaped the digital soul of my books.
His artistry, patience, and obsession with perfection are stamped on every page, every pixel, every cover, and every corner of my online presence. The website he built flows like a story of its own — intuitive, striking, and deeply connected to the narrative.
But Bhargav didn’t stop there. He poured his heart into crafting some of my book covers, giving them not just beauty but personality, emotion, and identity.
